1932 CHRYSLER IMPERIAL LEBARON CONVERTIBLE SEDAN:
The first V8 Chryslers, introduced in 1931, had 384.8-cubic inch engines which produced 125 horsepower at 3200 rpm, allowing a top speed of 96 miles per hour and 0 to 60 acceleration in 20 seconds. The cars also featured "floating power" fully flexible rubber engine mountings, vacuum ignition control, free wheeling, chassis with all welded steel construction and rust-proofed bodies. Chrysler retained the 1931 engineering features for 1932 with only minor alterations, along with the impressive styling that had been used in '31. The Imperial Convertible Sedan with custom body by Le Baron, Chrysler's top-of-the-line, was characterized by a low and gracefully curved profile that was the envy of the industry. Inspired by the 1929 Cord, the sleek lines and deeply indented radiator grille comprised Chrysler's most pacesetting styling treatment up to that date. The car pictured is a fine example of this fabulous model.
